Yes, indeed. The SP400 and 500 are identical as far as external dimensions, shape and construction are concerned. What separates them though is the size of the cable channel. The SP500 features a slightly larger cable channel so cables up to 5.8mm OD can be used. The SP400 works with smaller cables. Having one dedicated connector for each of the two most common cable family sizes used in rig building, insures that the cable is perfectly snug and that pressure is uniformly applied around it for the best possible strain relief result. The same principle applies to the SPS4 and SPS5, where the close-fit between the cable and the cable channel prevents any lateral movements that can be detrimental to the solder joints integrity. The side screws function is to hold the cable in place and to provide axial strain relief.
We have compiled the most popular brands of cables we know of, but no worries! Just send us the SKUs that you think will fit in there with some basic specs, such as cable type, OD and nominal capacitance, and we’ll make sure to add them to the chart.
Generally speaking, it is about 65% silver and 35% black. We personally tend to prefer the black finish as it blends much more naturally with the background. You might have noticed that all our black flat right angle connectors from the SP series feature a black cover as well as a black body! Other brands that offer the same type of connectors come with a silver body and a black cover, which technically speaking is neither black, nor silver.
We can think of at least 4 reasons why you should buy/use our 1/4″ and XLR connectors: COMPACTNESS, RUGGEDNESS, RELIABILITY AND FUNCTIONALITY
We offer the most comprehensive and innovative range of low profile audio connectors in the industry. Wether you need a mono, stereo, right angle, straight 1/4″ compact connector or a true heavy duty short XLR one to built your system, look no further
